excited to share the film that resulted from this quick backyard photo session. i love the process, the imperfection and the surprise of the results in the end. film always gives me a warm feeling; reminds me of the nostalgia i get when i look at photographs from my own childhood. i still feel like film has an important place in my work and look forward to using this medium more and more. also, considering adding film to my portrait sessions. i think it can give my clients a “whole” experience by blending the newness of digital and the retro feelings of film. i don’t know about you, but i still <3 film!

I recently had the opportunity to learn from Jonathan Canlas, an amazing film photographer who is super passionate and very good at what he does. You can read my review about our mini Film is not dead (FIND) workshop here .

I don’t know if it’s because it’s Friday the 13th or I’m missing some of my closest far-away friends or the fact that Eat,Pray,Love came out today and I wasn’t at the theater…
but today I was dreaming of Paris, Bali, Africa, Thailand and Kauai…in no particular order.
Maybe a bit of island fever…

late last night i remembered i have no rules for this daily photo experiment.
no rules.
i really like that.

and so today, or rather tonight, i will share some more film.
beautiful, perfect, mysterious film.

the beautiful fireworks celebrating Independence Day set to a cool patriotic soundtrack at Hickam Harbor

my kids, dancing like no one’s watching to their favorite band, The Throwdowns, who performed for the troops at Hickam Harbor on the 4th

film. because finding it again has been a breath of fresh, fun air

and last but not least, my husband who just started the Love Dare with me, promotes to an Air Force Major at the end of the month, and decided to grow his very first beard
