oh how i love creative projects. oh how i love photographing interesting, beautiful souls. Dana is such a free spirit, and a dream to create with. she is an amazing underwater photographer in her own right, a free diver, a mermaid, a seamstress who spent hundreds of hours creating the piece of art you see here. genuine and kind in her manner, with an unyielding strength and incredible depth that pour out from those beautiful piercing eyes. i can’t tell you how hard it is to watch your babies grow up. or maybe you already know. but i rarely get to enjoy my oldest in front of my camera these days. she’s too busy with her friends, Club volleyball, chorus, track, school, oh and did i say her friends? yea. so when i needed to drag the fam along for some location scouting this past weekend, i was so beyond words with mom happiness to be able to capture my girl. my baby girl. now 12 and almost as tall as her mama (and I’m pretty tall).
Lord, give me the strength to watch her grow and know how to let go and hold on all at the same time~ Amen.

I lost my August Break steam. I don’t know where it went, I was rolling right along and then the train kinda derailed. I know that it’s so cliche, to say that when you are following your passions, there are bound to be highs and lows, bumps in the road. But sometimes the things that challenge you, well they take you by surprise. Or they can cut you at the knees. I know that any small setbacks are in my way, only to throw me into the next realm…
and along the way learning that life can be equally beautiful, viewed in color or in black and white.
