As I continue to cull through my favorite photos of my time with The Throwdowns, I wanted to share a little something personal. I had the chance to go on a field trip with my baby girl to the zoo last week. She has been wanting to go to the zoo in a bad way since we moved here. Couldn’t have been a more perfect way to spend her first class field trip!
When I spend time with my kids, or my family for that matter, I rarely bring my camera. Not that I don’t want to capture the moments, but being a photographer, sometimes it’s just super important for me to just BE in the moment. Another reason it’s great to hire a photographer for your special family moments, so that you can actually be a participant rather than an observer![]()
When I got to the zoo however, there was inspiration all around. It was stunning, the little pockets of details. I couldn’t help but pull out my iphone and take a few snaps. I’m sort of conflicted about the zoo. I know they do a lot of great work, and help a lot of animals, but sometimes I look at the animals and wonder if they would be better off in their natural habitats. On this day, the elephants were especially restless. And yes, I am completely ignorant on the subject- so it’s just an observation. Either way, we had a great time spending time together. We even played hookie the rest of the day from school and roamed around to explore a little more. We trekked all the way back to the opposite end of the park one more time to get one last glimpse of our faves, the chimpanzees!
Enjoy~ our day at the zoo, iphone polaroid style.
